Just Back from 72 Hours in Timeless Athens: A FAM Trip to Remember with Blue Cocoon

I just returned from an unforgettable 2-day Athens FAM trip hosted by the incredible Sofia Theofilaktidis from Blue Cocoon, our luxury DMC partner in Greece. Athens has always been on my radar, but this immersive experience gave me a deeper appreciation for the city’s rich layers—from its storied past to its thriving creative present.

Day one began with a private “City of Antiquity” walking tour led by a passionate local guide who brought history to life with every step. We explored the Acropolis Museum, and afterward, we climbed up to the Acropolis itself. Due to a recent rainstorm, we had it practically all to ourselves.

After diving into ancient history, our second day focused on Athens’ vibrant contemporary art scene. Sofia curated an exclusive, private art immersion experience that introduced us to local artists and tucked-away galleries. We met with creators in their studios, explored a few under-the-radar spaces, and even got a peek into what inspires the city’s next generation of visionaries. It was the perfect counterpoint to the antiquities of day one—proof that Athens is not just a city of ruins but also one of reinvention.

Throughout our two days Sofia made sure we experienced the best of Athenian hospitality. From cozy local tavernas to modern Mediterranean cuisine, every meal was fresh, local, and delicious and of course paired with local Greek wine!

Our final dinner was a true showstopper—held at the stunning NEW Hotel, with panoramic views of the illuminated Acropolis.
