Grand Hotel Principe di Piemonte Reopens with Exciting New Renovations

Categories

Since the hotel was first built in 1922, the Grand Hotel Principe di Piemonte has seen a lot of change–and the past year has been no exception. With its incredible location perched on the Tuscan Seaside, the historic hotel took time this year to enhance and redecorate much of the public spaces and restaurants. The two architects, Diletta Storace and Nicola Spagni, took on the project with the goal of enhancing and refining the identity of the building. We are thrilled to share the new photos and renderings of the historic Viareggio hotel, and hope you get to experience it soon!

About the Grand Hotel Principe di Piemonte

The Principe di Piemonte is a luxury 5-star hotel set on the Tuscan Seaside of Italy. From the expansive and sumptuously decorated suites, to the stunning panoramic rooftop pool and terrace, the Grand Hotel Principe di Piemonte surrounds you with spacious, stylish spaces that feel open and elegant.

Set in Viareggio, a vibrant Tuscan town just beginning to make its way into the hearts of North American travelers, the hotel is an ideal home base for those looking to visit nearby highlights such as Cinque Terre, Lucca, Pisa and the city of marble artists Pietrasanta.

Piccolo Principe Restaurant

The renowned Two-Michelin Star Piccolo Principe restaurant welcomes guests with an ambiance that is even more evocative and refined. The restaurant is set up in the veranda of the ground floor that has been completely renovated to make the experience an unforgettable one. The indoor veranda is reminiscent of large greenhouses, and assumes all the majesty of the richness of a place intended for excellent dining.

The Chinese Room

The Chinese Room is covered with exquisite hand-decorated silk wallpaper that conjures up the idea of chinoiserie–a unique space that evokes travel and refers to a distant point, seamlessly linking to the theme of exploring places on the other side of the world. It evokes the concept of extreme luxury from the unique fabrics and comfort in an intimate and complex space.

The Restaurant Room

The restaurant has a more contemporary feel, with a majestic mirror added to increase the light and reflections, adding depth to the room. The fabrics have been hand-picked for this room, geared towards the philological rediscovery of modern luxury.

The Waiting Room

The waiting room is a serene lounge that contains a beautiful bookcase, displaying items that can be contemplated and observed. This room differs from the others through the use of silver rather than the gold decorative elements featured in all the other areas on the ground floor. The wallpaper is an expression of ultimate luxury and refinement, hand-made by de Gurnay, a very famous English company that creates unique and refined elements.

The Staircase

The stairs are covered with a runner specially designed for the Grand Hotel Principe di Piemonte with embroidery depicting koi carp, nishikigoi (literally “brocade carp”) or Japanese carp, swimming upstream. In Japanese symbolism, these fish are associated with good luck, they swim against the current with courage and fortune, in a continuous movement along the stairs that symbolize a dark blue river, conjuring up a powerful eye-catching scene. In 2022, during new renovation work, the staircase will be further enhanced by the installation of blown glass crystals that will be lowered from the skylight on the top floor.
